What exactly is so scary about the vampire? Many would say it’s the fact that they have returned from the grave to feed their bloodlust upon the living. The original vampires of Eastern European folklore were hideous looking creatures, half corpse surrounded in black shroud like capes. These monsters looked more dead than alive. Vampire Halloween accessories include such things as, prominent fangs, blood spattered lips and a white skin pallor, fresh from the grave. Typically, they also had long fingernails and shrunken, almost skull like facial features.

As with the original vampire, they are eager to sink their extra long fangs into the necks of the living. Their skin is pale and bloodless, their lips are full and bloodied. This vampire will either tear his living victims to pieces killing them instantly, or drain them of blood repeatedly over time, so that they may die slowly and thus pass on the curse of vampirism to a new recruit. Gothic vampires of either sex should have vampire Halloween accessories such as a black cape and should dress more formally, sort of like a Victorian undertaker.
Enter the modern vampire, young and sexy, part goth, part rockstar, with a terrible secret. Though stylish, this vampire features vampire Halloween accessories including, the dreaded fangs, pale skin and occasionally yellow cat like eyes. This vampire could be your next door neighbor or your worst nightmare. There is something strange about them, but you can’t quite put your finger on it.

Next, you will need pale facial powder or paint, to give yourself the creepy skin color of the undead. The third basic is some fake blood for your lips and corner of your mouth. Perhaps a little bit on your fangs too, if you’ve just eaten. Another nice Halloween vampire accessory is a wooden stake to be worn on the chest, you could be the one that escaped the vampire hunters.

Yes the vampire legend has come a long way since nosferatu, which in my opinion is still one of the creepiest movies in the vampire genre. The vampire (Count Orlok) looks thoroughly hideous and the tension that’s created by looming shadows of the count leaning over a sleeping beauty is iconic in the history of cinema.

My personal favorite vampire movies are the old hammer house of horror films. Although they probably look pretty cheap in production values by modern standards, they seemed to create the ideal Gothic sensibility that has equal elements of horror and style that people find chillingly macabre but fascinating seductive. I guess that is the element of anything successful – layers. Maybe that’s why I like sweet and sour food.

I’ve always wanted to have a vampire themed Halloween party, there are so many awesome props and decorations available to buy online today. The “puncture wounds” you can now get and the blood, well, it just looks SOOO real! The costumes, too, come in so many different styles and they look really authentic, menacing and little sinister – all the things you could want on Halloween night.

Yes, the fangs have it in my opinion. Many people will wear a vampire costume but the really impressive ones will have attention to detail..and the teeth are a vital element of any vampire costume. You could alternate between wearing them and not at a party. Maybe you could even pretend to bite people that you took a shine to..what a way to break the ice.

I don’t know what it is but kids love vampire costumes even if they’re scared. My uncle was one for Halloween last year and they wanted to touch his face but at the same time they were so scared.
It is so cool that you have description of specific vampires in your article. Nice.. but I have to admit as well that the picture is pretty scary..
And Jerry has a good point there… it’s so amusing to watch small kids scared by the various vampire masks and costumes, but at the same time wanting to touch them.
My “Sinister Skull” just arrived yesterday, and I was very happy with it. It’s definitely built well. I think it’s a good size. It’s not big, but it fit perfectly in my garden. I agree with others about the light. It is bright, about as bright as my solar lights, if not a little brigher, but it doesn’t light up the skull at all. So it’s kinda pointless to leave the light on at night. I’m still pretty happy with it.
